I just called Smith & Wesson to buy some recoil spacers for my 22a. The gentleman on the other end asked for my address and then said: “I have 4 of them on the way”. Now these are small parts and are probably $2-$3 dollars at retail. The fact is that S&W is working to make its consumers happy and building trust by doing things like this. I am impressed and wish other companies would follow suit!

The planets align

I have been watching the planets of Jupiter and Venus rise in the evening. It is so amazing to see these planets that are so close when you consider the size of the Universe. Regardless of how you look at or think about our existence and the vastness of what surounds us it is really neat to see these celestial bodies so close.

Passing

A friend’s father passed this week and I thought back almost 20 years to when my dad passed and how all this time later it still hurts. When I do not think about it for a while it is just normal to not have him here and he has not been a direct influence on me for a long time but he is always with me and I am always wondering what he would think of so many things. He never knew the internet, or email, video conferencing or blogs or even a cellular phone that was smaller than a car battery. Times like these are when I miss my father more than normal and ponder what might have been.

Smarter phone

Why do we need two Swiss Army Knives? Tablets are great for email, browsing, writing, presenting etc. “Smart phones” are great for point applications (e.g. Boarding pass, coupons, payment) and voice communications. Tablets do not make good phones and phones do not make good word processors and presentation developing tools. What I am looking for is a wireless access point that I can make phone calls on and connect my tablet to for Internet access. I do not need a tiny tablet or a giant phone.
