Smarter phone

Why do we need two Swiss Army Knives? Tablets are great for email, browsing, writing, presenting etc. “Smart phones” are great for point applications (e.g. Boarding pass, coupons, payment) and voice communications. Tablets do not make good phones and phones do not make good word processors and presentation developing tools. What I am looking for is a wireless access point that I can make phone calls on and connect my tablet to for Internet access. I do not need a tiny tablet or a giant phone.

Smart Phone

This is my first post with my new Motorola Driod Bionic. This is also my first Andriod phone and I have to say that I really like it. Coming from a Blackberry that is the worst device I have ever used it is like a dream.

Morning Walk

Went for a 5:30a walk in the woods this morning and saw a nice Buck sitting along the Menomonee River. My wife came with me and it was really nice to just see the morning come and be together for a little walk. Of course we had to stop at Alterra for a coffee and some breakfast on the way home!

Bad Apple

Upgraded to iTunes 10.whatever.whocares and things did not go so well. Luckily I no longer need to rely on my iPhone for work so it is more of a nuisance than a real issue but my phone no longer syncs my calendars or contacts or notes with outlook. We are in the new information age now and still these huge corporations need to battle over my devices and computers. Uninstall this or disable that to get foundational software to work is not an answer. Apple actually has two solutions that are so ridiculous that I wish I could ditch their device all together. One is to delete all my contacts form Outlook and synch them from the device. WHAT? iTunes is the software that was updated not Outlook. The second is even better: create a new user account so that I can verify that the issue is not with my user account. How does that make sense? My user is the one that has al the configuration of iTunes and every other software and peripheral attached to my system. What is the next step after that? Maybe, drop by Best Buy and replace your computer to make sure it is not your computer that is causing the issues.

Come on Apple, get your crap together and actually take some responsibility. We get that your devices are popular with the kids and that the are willing to drink your cool-aid when it comes to bending over backwards just to have your devices but many of us simply don’t have time for toys and need this stuff to work all the time.
